Manhattan Beach, California is a beautiful almost 4 square mile area along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Just over half of the area is beach front and contains a long 928 foot pier. This area is home of 48 acres of gorgeous parks, multiple ball fields and tennis courts, as well as golf courses, basketball courts, jogging paths and dog parks, making it the perfect area to enjoy the great outdoors and incredible scenery. The population is almost exactly split in half by gender, with 49.9% of the population being female, and 50.1% male. The area is predominately Caucasian and contains about 8% Asian and 7% Hispanic influences, and about 15% speak a language other than English at home.
It is also a great place to raise a family with the crime rate being lower than the national average as well as the outstanding education statistics. Over 97% of the residents in Manhattan Beach hold a high school diploma or greater, which is much larger than the national average of about 86%. Manhattan Beach is a very new city with its official beginnings and date of incorporation in 1912. The first piers, though, were actually built in 1901 and included a wave motor which powered the Strand lighting system. At the end of the second World War, an influx of people came to the area. All year long, the nights are cool, but not freezing, and the days bring bountiful sunshine and warmth with temperatures generally in the 80 and 90 degree range.
